Currently Coveting: I want those chairs!!!

Apartment Therapy recently posted pics of the home of Grace, blogger of Grace Happens, and I'm kind of crushing on her grey wing chairs...

Things wing chairs need to be to make me happy:
1) they need to have enough seat room to be able to curl up and sit Indian style
2) a high, cushy back
3) a classic color that can stand the test of several redecorations

Well played, Grace. Well played.

Advertising FAIL: when editorial gets too editorial...

It's really hard to concentrate on the clothes when the models are channeling Neo from The Matrix.

The answer is out there, Lanvin, and it's looking for you, and it will find you if you want it to.

A lesson in financial relativism

File this under "marketing concepts I do not understand." Zac Posen's new "recession friendly" line, Z Spoke, has launched exclusively at Saks Fifth Avenue, and if you listen to Mark Holgate's write up in March 2010's issue of Vogue, "Posen is keen to come up with prices that won't break the bank($78 to a bit over $600)." Since when is $78 for a t-shirt inexpensive?????

DAMN Ms. Lively!

Norman Jean Roy shot Blake Lively for the March 2010 issue of Vogue, which begs the question: is it possible for Blake Lively to take a bad picture? She may very well be the most photogenic person on the face of the planet.

Spring has Sprung: Floral Fabrics from Liberty of London

Whether you're in the market for floral fabric or not, pop on over to the website of noted textile house Liberty of London. Here are a few of my favorites:

Advertising FAIL: Equating jeggings with culture?

Just when you thought skinny jeans couldn't possibly get any skinnier, Joe's (the jean company) brings us for Spring 2010 "the jean legging." Just because you put a bunch of ballerinas in distressed "jeggings" doesn't suddenly make them any less trashy...

Advertising FAIL: And who says there are no women of color in major fashion magazines?

These women look colored to me! Granted, that color happens to be orange...

Just what size is "plus size"?????

"Full-figured" model Crystal Renn will appear in this month's issue of V. Jesus Christ, is she considered "plus size"???? For serious? Apparently healthy and nourished are the opposite of industry standard.

Currently Coveting: Bold Walls and Comfy Couches

A refreshingly Un-American design aesthetic: Christopher and Suzanne Sharp (of The Rug Company) share their London Home with VOGUE:

I dig the layout the room, with the two inward-facing velvet couches, sandwiching a coffee table and flanked by a bookshelves and a fireplace, anchoring the entire room around notions such as literature, conversation and warmth. Not a flat screen plasma in sight. Which begs the question: Where do the Sharps watch LOST? (It's the final season! Questions will be answered!!!)

Here are some other pics from their spread in March 2010's issue of VOGUE.

Conclusions I've drawn:
1) Nothing says "home office" like non-ironic antlers. The Sharps are themselves genuine globetrotters (Christopher Sharp grew up in a small village Uganda), so the chances of those being anything but authentically acquired are slim.

2) A foosball table in a home office? Work ethic must be strong in the Sharp household...
